What maxed actually means

Maxed means all 23 skills at level 99, for a total level of 2277. That is the whole definition. It says nothing about quests, diaries, combat achievements, bank value or gear, and those are usually what a buyer actually cares about.

An account can be genuinely maxed and still be unable to do most high-level content, because it never completed the quests that unlock it. Song of the Elves, Monkey Madness II, Desert Treasure — these gate more of the endgame than a couple of levels do. Ask about quest completion separately from total level; they are not correlated the way people assume.

The reverse also happens: an account at 2200 total with every relevant quest and diary done is more useful, day to day, than a maxed account with none of them. Decide which you are buying before you compare prices, because the market prices the number rather than the utility.

How to check the claim before you pay

Total level and individual skills are publicly checkable on the official hiscores by character name. Ask for the name, look it up yourself, and compare it against what the listing says. This takes about thirty seconds and rules out the most common exaggeration outright.

Screenshots are weaker evidence than the hiscores because they are trivially edited, but they are the only way to see the bank and the quest tab. Ask for both, and ask for them fresh rather than accepting stock images. Anything a seller will not show you before payment is something you are buying blind.

Get every claim into the order chat in writing — total level, quest completion, what is in the bank, whether the registration email is included. A claim made in the order chat is on the record and available to a reviewer. A claim made on Discord is not.

What you are actually buying, and what you cannot buy

You are buying login credentials and whatever the account holds. You are not buying ownership in any sense Jagex recognises, and that is the part that cannot be escrowed. The original creator may retain the ability to recover the account through support, and no amount of care at the point of sale removes that.

The registration email is the single most important question, and it is binary: either it is included and has never been recovered, or it is not. Sellers who are vague here are vague for a reason. A maxed account with a recoverable email is worth substantially less than one without, and should be priced that way.

Escrow means your payment is held until you confirm you received the credentials and they work. It cannot protect against a recovery three months later. That risk is real, it is unavoidable, and it should be reflected in what you are willing to pay.

• Check the character name on the official hiscores yourself. Do not accept a screenshot as proof of levels.
• Ask about quests and diaries separately — maxed says nothing about either.
• Get an explicit answer on the registration email: included and unrecovered, or not.

The risk, stated plainly

Account trading breaches Jagex's terms of service and accounts can be banned for it. More particularly, the original owner may be able to recover the account after the sale, and no escrow can prevent that. Escrow protects the payment until handover, not your ownership afterwards.
