Terms of service

These terms govern your use of Escrowden. By creating an account, browsing listings or placing an order you agree to them.

1. Who we are

Escrowden operates a peer-to-peer marketplace that lets users list and buy in-game value and player services relating to Old School RuneScape. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “the platform” mean Escrowden. You can reach us at support@escrowden.com.

2. What the platform is and is not

We provide the marketplace, the wallet and escrow ledger, seller verification, and the order chat. We are not a party to any trade. Listings, prices, descriptions and delivery are the responsibility of the seller who published them.

We are not a bank, e-money institution or payment institution, and a wallet balance is not a deposit account, does not earn interest and is not protected by any deposit guarantee scheme.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Jagex Ltd. “Old School RuneScape” and “RuneScape” are trademarks of Jagex Ltd.

3. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use the platform.
  • You must provide accurate account information and keep it current.
  • You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, including keeping your credentials secure. Tell us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.
  • One person may not operate multiple accounts to evade limits or enforcement.

4. Real-world trading risk

Buying or selling in-game value or services for real money breaches Jagex’s terms of service. Jagex may take action against accounts involved, including removing in-game value and issuing permanent bans. You accept that risk yourself. Escrow protects the payment side of a trade only; it does not and cannot protect your game account, and we are not liable for any action taken by Jagex.

5. Seller obligations

  • You must complete verification before publishing listings.
  • Listings must accurately describe what is being sold, including stock, condition and, for services, the delivery window and what you need from the buyer.
  • You must only list value or services you actually control and can deliver.
  • You must deliver what was described, within the stated window, and communicate through the order chat.
  • You must not solicit payment outside the platform, direct buyers to other channels to complete a trade, or ask a buyer to confirm delivery before delivering.

6. Buyer obligations

  • Fund orders from your wallet balance and pay only through the platform.
  • Confirm delivery promptly once you have received what you ordered, and only once you have received it.
  • Do not confirm delivery in order to obtain a payout release you are not entitled to, and do not raise disputes in bad faith.

7. Escrow, orders and disputes

Placing an order moves the order amount from your spendable wallet balance into a hold attached to that order. While held, neither party can withdraw it.

  • Release. When the buyer confirms delivery, the hold is released to the seller’s balance less the platform commission. Confirmation is final and cannot be reversed.
  • Dispute. A buyer may raise a dispute at any time before confirming. The hold is frozen and the order is flagged for review.
  • Resolution. We may request information from either side and may decide, acting reasonably, to release the hold to the seller or return it to the buyer. Our decision on a disputed hold is final as between you and the platform.

8. Fees

Buyers pay the listed price with no additional platform fee. Sellers pay a 5% commission on completed orders, deducted from the escrow release, except on each seller’s first three orders, which carry no commission. There are no listing fees or subscription charges. See Fees & payouts for worked examples. We may change fees on reasonable notice; changes do not apply to orders already placed.

9. Prohibited conduct

You must not use the platform to:

  • Defraud another user, or misrepresent what you are selling.
  • Move payments off-platform to avoid escrow or fees.
  • List stolen credentials, hacked accounts, or value obtained by compromising others.
  • Use automation to scrape, spam or manipulate listings, sales records or search results.
  • Launder money or process proceeds of crime.
  • Harass, threaten or abuse other users or our staff.
  • Circumvent a suspension, or evade verification requirements.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account, remove listings, or freeze a hold where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached or that fraud or unlawful activity is taking place. Where we do so, we will release funds you are properly entitled to, other than amounts subject to an open dispute or investigation. You may close your account at any time once you have no open orders.

11. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, we are not liable for: action taken by Jagex against your game account; the conduct, listings or delivery of any other user; loss of in-game value; or indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to you in connection with the platform is limited to the greater of the total commission we received on your orders in the twelve months before the claim, or the amount held in escrow on the order the claim relates to.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Where a change is material we will give reasonable notice. Continuing to use the platform after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-law rules in your country of residence.
